To acquire specialized skills, knowledge and attitudes related to older adults and essential older adult services. As our population continues to age, the need for potential employees with education and experience in the field of older adults will increase dramatically in our community. This program will prepare you for the opportunities and challenges to become a leader in the field of recreation for older adults.


2. What career opportunities exist in the field of Recreation for Older Adults?

3. What are the salary ranges in this field?

The anticipated starting salary ranges, for entry level positions, is $26,000 - $40,000.


4. What are the admission requirements for this program?

All applicants must have received a degree or diploma in recreation and leisure services or a related field from an approved University or College. Related fields include, Social Services, Gerontology, Registered Nurse, Practical Nurse, etc. The Program Coordinator will assess related education.

Related work, field placement experience or current volunteer commitment is a prerequisite.

Current First Aid and Level "C" C.P.R. certificates are required prior to the commencement of the first field placement.

The Village of Winston Park is located on 695 Block Line Road in Kitchener, Ontario. For more information on the services that they offer, please visit their website by clicking here. From Conestoga College, the following are the driving directions to Winston Park:

Leave the Conestoga College campus and turn right onto Homer Watson Blvd.
Continue past Manitou Drive and Bleams Road.
Turn left onto Block Line Road until you reach Winston Park, which is located at the end of the street on the corner of Blockline and Westmount Road.

The Village of Winston Park can also be reached by taking the #12 bus route from Bus Terminal, Fairview Park Mall or Conestoga Mall.

The Village of Winston Park has parking spaces available and is free of charge to students enrolled in this program.
