Industry Experience, Professional Currency Activities

Participation in professional development activities, including:

  • OAPT annual conference
  • Workshops on curriculum, technology, accessibility and safety
Major Research Projects, Scholarly Activities, and/or Publications

Embarking (Fall 2016) on scholarly activity:

  • Effect of Mechanics Laboratories on Conceptual Understanding and Problem-solving Skills in Physics -- Mechanical

Publications:

  • Statistics of the pinning field in a soft metallic ferromagnet (Phys Rev B, 2002)

Use of the one-and-a-half spectrum to determine Barkhausen noise asymmetry (Fluctuation and Noise Letters, 2007)

Additional Information I enjoy the challenge of making physics seem easy and fun.  I experiment in the classroom to increase student engagement and understanding.  Currently, this includes studying the effect of adding integrated and relevant hands-on activities, online live participation during class, new demonstrations, and a pilot project in self-regulated learning.
