In addition to textbooks and school supplies, we also carry a wide range of Conestoga College crested clothing, giftware and backpacks. You will also find, computer software with special academic pricing for students, giftware, greeting cards, postage stamps, GRT bus tickets and snack foods. Our selection changes often, so stop by regularly to see what is new.

Gift Cards

Available in any denomination, gift cards with a declining balance are now available for purchase and are redeemable at the Doon Campus Bookstore. Call the Bookstore at (519) 748-5220 Ext. 3241 or email bookstore@conestogac.on.ca.

Software

The Bookstore is a registered academic reseller of software for Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, ACCPAC and many others. Students may purchase software at prices below the regular price. Depending on the software selected, the savings can often represent a few hundred dollars. These software packages are typically full packages although there are some with time locks or printing restrictions. Graduation/School Rings

The Bookstore arranges for Josten's to visit the school 2 or 3 times each year including at Convocation. Watch for posters & flyers on when the next campus "Ring Days" will occur.

Grand River Transit

The Bookstore sells bus tickets year round for Grand River Transit (GRT).

Q: How will I know which textbooks to buy?

A: The bookstore at Conestoga provides you with two online options so that you can access your textbook list before classes start:

1. Personal textbook list - just log into the Services section of the Student Portal on the College website to begin your search.
2. Use this website and click on the textbooks button to search by campus, term and course code.

If your list is not complete, check back often. As textbook orders are processed, updates on pricing & availability are posted on the Bookstore's website daily.

Q: How much should I budget for buying textbooks?

A: According to the National Association of College Stores, the average full-time student spends $750-$900 per academic year on textbooks, course materials and supplies. Your actual purchases may vary depending on your program.

Q: Are there ways I can save money on my textbooks?

A: Yes, there are several ways you can save money.

By shopping early, you can avoid the Rush and get the best selection of used textbooks. Used textbooks are 25% off the original price and generally sell out quickly. We make sure that the books are current and in good condition, free from excessive markings and have all their pages intact. Used books are located with the new textbooks. A used book is clearly marked with a USED sticker located on the spine.

Clearly distinguish between "Required" & "Suggested" titles.

Required - students must purchase the text as assignments and exercises are taken directly from the text and readings are assigned on a regular basis.

Suggested - students would be expected to read from the text independently at their own pace. Assignments are not taken directly from the text. A suggested title is typically a good resource book for the course.

At the end of the term, consider selling your textbooks at our textbook buyback. Buyback prices are based on demand. If we know which books are needed at Conestoga we will pay 50% of the retail purchase price. If the instructor has not submitted an order you will have the option to sell your books at the current wholesale buyback price. These prices typically can be as much as 30% of the new price.

Save your cash register receipt. Refunds will not be approved without your original receipt.

Never leave your textbooks unattended in a public place. Theft of textbooks is something very common. Mark your books in an inconspicuous place so you can identify them as yours.

Q: Why are some textbooks cheaper at _________________?

A: If you think you've found cheaper textbooks elsewhere, be sure to read the fine print before you place your order:

• Are there shipping and handling charges?
• Is the price in US or Canadian dollars?
• Is the book the correct edition?
• Are there customs and duty charges?
• Is the book available now when you need it or will you waste valuable time waiting for it to be shipped?
• If your class is cancelled or if you drop the course, what will happen?
• If you need to return the book are there any restocking fees?
• Will you have to pack up the book and pay return mailing charges?

Save your receipts and refrain from marking or using new textbooks before you are 100% sure you will keep them.

The final decision on what textbooks and other course materials to buy, or not to buy, is strictly yours. Stay informed and make that decision an educated one!
