About the Program

The Motive Power Techniques - Motorcycle and Sport Vehicles Repair program will prepare individuals to pursue a career in the motorcycle and power sport vehicles (such as personal watercraft, snowmobiles, ATVs, and RUVs) repair industry. This program is designed to provide the student with a strong basis in trade-related academics, safety training, and the foundation technical skills needed in the motorcycle technician and power sport vehicle trades. Graduates of the program will have demonstrated the ability to identify basic motorcycle system problems, to inspect and test basic motorcycle components and systems, and to inspect and test basic power sport vehicles components and systems. Graduates will also gain experience with small engine powered equipment. In addition, graduates will have developed safe working practices in the use of machinery, tools, and equipment and will be able to apply basic communication, documentation, information technology, and computer skills to support a motorcycle/power sport vehicles related working environment. This program covers all learning outcomes for level 1 of the related apprenticeship program in Ontario. A graduate of this program may not be required to complete the in-school apprenticeship training or take an exemption exam for level 1 should they choose to pursue a motorcycle technician apprenticeship.
