About the Program

The Motive Power Techniques - Truck and Coach Repair program will prepare individuals to pursue a career in the truck, coach and/or trailer repair industry. This program is designed to provide the student with a strong basis in trade-related academics, safety training, and the foundation technical skills needed in the truck and coach technician trade. Graduates of the program will have demonstrated the ability to identify basic truck system problems, to inspect and test basic truck components and systems. Graduates will have developed safe working practices in the use of machinery, tools, and equipment and will be able to apply basic communication, documentation, information technology, and computer skills to support a truck/coach related working environment. This program covers all in-school learning outcomes for level 1 of the related apprenticeship program in Ontario. A graduate of this program may not be required to complete the in-school apprenticeship training or take an exemption exam for level 1 should they choose to pursue a truck and coach technician apprenticeship.
