Part-time Courses - Motorcycle Driver Training

Description: Admission Requirements: Applicants must have attended the Novice Rider program and have had their 'M2' class license for a minimum of 18 months or have had their 'M2' class license for a minimum of 22 months. All applicants must bring their own motorcycle that can safely operate on 400 series highways, proof of insurance and registration, and the mandatory gear. This course is specifically designed for 'M2' class licensed riders wanting to be tested for their 'M' class license,with an initial skills test and progressing to on-lot and on-road riding using manoevres such as slow-speed riding, steering and braking, traffic behaviour, crisis management, and highway and group riding. Successful participants receive their upgrade to the 'M' class licence.

Description: Prerequisite: Student Must hold an M or M2 Licence. This course gives students a hands-on opportunity to review and utilize motorcycle riding skills in a structured environment. Students review rider and equipment preparation and safe street riding strategies. Students practice balance, braking, accelerating, turning, shifting, obstacle avoidance, tight manoeuvres and hill start skills using College owned motorcycles. Students must have previous experience on motorcycles and possess basic riding skills. Participation in this course may be eligible for a discount on your insurance. Check with your insurance provider for eligibility.

Description: This course is designed as an introduction to motorcycling. There is an orientation to motorcycling, responsibilities of the rider, and considerations before starting to ride. College motorcycles are used to familiarize the student with the motorcycle and its controls. Students will be better equipped to make smart choices of proper training, motorcycle equipment, and motorcycle types that will best suit their intended riding style.

Description: This introduction course introduces the novice to motorcycle riding.
This 5-hour course is designed to provide those who feel they may need a bit more practice prior to taking the Motorcycle Rider Training Course offered at Conestoga College or for those who aren’t sure if motorcycling is for them and want to give it a try without investing a lot of time and money. The first evening of the course explores licensing requirements, recommended riding gear and rider responsibility. The second night is a three hour practical hands-on portion involving basic riding techniques.

Description: CSC's Gearing up novice rider course and M1 to M2 upgrade. Each lesson builds on the previous, thereby allowing for continuous skills improvement for a full riding experience. Topics include: balance and braking, cold start, clutch control, moving off, shoulder checks, slow speed maneuvers, gear shifting, countersteering, curve management, emergency braking, crisis management, traffic behaviour, and street strategies for surviving in hazardous situations. Description: This course is designed for individuals who have completed Motorcycle Driver Training, and would like to further enhance their riding skills using their own motorcycles. It will also be of interest to riders with limited experience or as a refresher of basic skills. In-class discussion will focus on riding skills and techniques as well as group riding and consideration for road commuting. On the lot, you will practice slow speed control, cornering technique, push steering, collision avoidance and quick stopping. The class will finish with a group ride with stops en route to discuss considerations while riding.
