Description: This introductory course covers basic vocabulary, sentence structure, grammar, short conversations and culture within a variety of Francophone settings. Students will acquire simple skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in French. It is strongly recommended that students have completed Basic Conversational French or equivalent.

Description: This high introductory French course is for students who wish to deepen their understanding of the French language and culture by further developing their oral communication skills, their comprehension of French grammar and their ability to read and write in French. Elements of workplace French will be introduced in this course. It is strongly recommended that students have completed French I.

Description: As in French I and French II, but at an intermediate level, emphasis will be placed on listening, speaking, reading, and writing aspects of the French language in a Canadian setting. Dialogue topics will be selected to concentrate on the conversational aspects of the French language. Further exploration of workplace communication skills will be covered. It is strongly recommended that students have completed French II.

LANG1080 French IV

Description: This is a course for students who have completed French III or equivalent and who wish to continue to develop their language skills at a high intermediate level. Authentic French reading selections form the basis for the vocabulary, grammar and conversational topics. The basic grammar of the various tenses and parts of speech to be studied will be quickly reviewed, and then advanced notions will be introduced. There is also a continuation of French workplace communication skills presented in this course. It is strongly recommended that students have completed French III.
