Faculty & Staff Resources
Counselling Services values the role that Faculty and Staff serve in identifying
students at risk and students who might benefit from counselling support. To assist
Faculty and Staff in performing this vital role, our department has developed a
variety of resources to provide information and direction/guidance.
- Refer a Student is self-explanatory in offering details on the circumstances necessitating a referral to
Counselling Services, and direction on how to go about doing this.
- Immediate Referral elaborates on situations of extreme crisis and concern, such as students who may
be at risk for harming themselves or others, and provides information on how to go about getting the student the immediate help
that they need.
- Consultation with Counsellor invites you to set up time to meet with one of our counsellors for
consultation.
- In-class Presentations provides more information on the topics and presentations counsellors can
provide, and for information on how to request and schedule these.
- Tragic Response Debriefing is a service offered whereby counsellors can be present in the classroom to
offer debriefing and support to students in the aftermath of a tragic event such as a death or incidence of violence.
- EAP Services Counselling support is available to full-time Faculty and Staff of Conestoga College, although
not through the Counselling Services department itself. Refer to EAP Services if you have a personal issue or concern that you
would like to speak to someone about. The service is confidential and provided for through the College’s Employee Assistance
Program.
