Academic Counselling

Students requesting academic counselling can book an appointment with a counsellor for identification of learning and study skills barriers, a suspected learning disability, or subject difficulties. If you would like assistance with your study and learning strategies, a counsellor can arrange specific assistance in this area. For more information on study skills, refer to The Learning Commons.

Other common academic issues with which counsellors can assist students include test anxiety, public speaking anxiety, and performance anxiety in placement situations. Students can gain assistance from counsellors with academic complaints as outlined in the Student Procedures Guide. This might include a facilitated meeting between a student and faculty / instructional staff if desired by the two parties. Counsellors can also assist students with the academic appeals procedure or the harassment procedure, as outlined in the Student Procedures Guide.

If you would like to talk to a counsellor about an academic concern, please refer to the procedure for making an appointment.
