Welcome from President Tibbits
Congratulations and welcome to Conestoga, where we connect life and learning to build successful futures and stronger communities. You are joining a dynamic team of more than 1,000 full-time faculty and staff.
Conestoga is a leader in polytechnic education, serving approximately 16,500 full-time students at campuses in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Ingersoll, Brantford and Stratford. Since 2005, enrolment in full-time programs at Conestoga has grown by 90 per cent, the largest increase in the Ontario college system. Continuing education at Conestoga attracts more than 38,000 enrolments each year.
Our career-focused education programs – from apprenticeships to diplomas, degrees to post-graduate certificates, continuing education and part-time studies – all reflect Ontario’s changing job market and are designed to help our students build the skills and knowledge they need for career and life success.
Here at Conestoga, we are committed to meeting the needs of students, industry and the communities we serve by:
- providing innovative, career-focused education and training programs through the creative use of advanced teaching methods, technological support, services and research
- supporting local businesses and the community in their efforts to innovate, improve their products and processes, and become more competitive through applied research initiatives that provide solutions to real-world challenges.
Over the past several years, Conestoga has engaged in the largest expansion in our history, completing a number of major infrastructure projects that provide our students with some of Canada’s most innovative and advanced applied learning environments.
In Spring 2014, we concluded a Strategic Mandate Agreement with the Government of Ontario that positions Conestoga to become a provincial leader in college-based degree programming and a pre-eminent centre for education in engineering, trades, business and community services, with increased capacity across a comprehensive range of programming and applied research initiatives to better meet the needs of our students and the growing communities we serve.
As our community continues to develop and grow, we too must expand to ensure an adequate supply of effective and productive graduates to meet market demands for a wide range of industry and social services.
During your first few weeks at Conestoga, contact your Chair, a colleague, or a representative from Human Resources when a question arises. We will do our best to help you become a productive member of the Conestoga community.
