Awards, Bursaries, Scholarships and Academic Grants

Information and application forms for all awards, bursaries and scholarships administered by the Financial Aid and Student Awards Office are emailed to all students via their Conestoga College email accounts. Students should check their College email addresses frequently.

In addition to the awards offered through the Financial Aid and Student Awards Office there are also many program-specific awards administered by individual programs. Students should talk to their faculty or program co-ordinators about additional awards co-ordinated by their programs.

What is an Award?

An award is a gift, sum of money, or citation given to recognize achievement in some capacity.

What is a Bursary?

Bursaries are monetary awards based on financial need as determined by Conestoga, and may also include a minimum expectation of academic achievement or other miscellaneous criteria.

What is a Scholarship?

Scholarships are monetary awards based on academic excellence and, in some cases, other forms of earned merit. Scholarships have a specified value in terms of monetary benefit to the recipient. Scholarship categories, include entrance, in-course, part-time, specific achievement (open to all students, usually for achievement in a single course), and graduands.

What is an Academic Grant?

Academic Grants are monetary awards based on a combination of merit and financial need. A student may receive an Academic Grant in addition to any other scholarships, prizes, or bursaries for which s/he is eligible.
