Schlegel Centre for Advancing Seniors Care launched at Conestoga

Centre for Advancing Seniors Care

Community partners, supporters and friends joined representatives from Conestoga College, Schlegel Villages and the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA) on Thursday, April 13 for the official launch of a new facility that will enhance the quality of life and care for seniors and their families through innovation in education, workforce development and care services.



Freshco partnership provides trades students with holiday surprise

Freschco Partnership

Students in Conestoga’s Women in Skilled Trades (WIST) certificate program received an unexpected surprise on December 8 when construction magnate Mandy Rennehan, CEO and founder of Frescho, attended class at the Waterloo campus to deliver some holiday cheer. Rennehan presented each student with a $500 cheque on behalf of Freshco to help subsidize their living expenses.



DENSO Foundation recognized for ongoing support

DENSO Foundation recognized

On July 14, the DENSO North America Foundation was recognized for its ongoing support of Conestoga at an event held at the Cambridge campus. Since 2008, the Foundation has directed more than $100,000 to the college to fund new lab equipment for the Mechanical Engineering Technology program and to support Conestoga’s Mini- Baja and Formula SAE race teams.



Industry leader Martha George honoured at Golf Classic

Martha George honoured

On May 30, the Conestoga community welcomed more than 135 golfers to the 22nd annual Golf Classic. The event recognizes and honours local community and business leaders while supporting development projects at the college. This year’s Classic, held at Whistle Bear Golf Club, honoured Martha George, president of the Grand Valley Construction Association (GVCA).
