Accessible Media

Regulations of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) address the need to provide alternate formats upon request, including captioned or described media resources.

Process for Ensuring Your Media Resource is Accessible

The Library’s Media Resources Technician can assist you with your accessible media needs whether it is your copy of a VHS/DVD, or a resource owned by the Library. Rachel Kelly can help guide you through the following steps to making your media accessible.

Permissions Required under Copyright

To legally add the CC/DV to a media resource, the original copyright holder must be contacted to obtain written permission to add the accessible feature(s) to their work. We can assist with this process.

Videos Created by Faculty/Staff

Have you created your own video and would like to post it to your course site? Contact eConestoga Support who will advise what your next steps are for adding Closed Captioning or Descriptive Video. Please note that this department does not handle the actual CC/DV process, they are available to provide support and software so you can create the accessible features.
