English Language Programs

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC)

The Conestoga College LINC program offers English classes for adult newcomers who wish to improve their language skills for life, for work and for further learning. Conestoga College LINC is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Location: Three locations

Eligibility: You must be a landed immigrant, permanent resident or a convention refugee to Canada.

Cost: FREE

Availability: Classes are open for all levels from literacy to CLB Level 8. Individuals interested in LINC classes need to be assessed at the Language Assessment Centre of the YMCA Cross Cultural and Community Services in order to determine starting level. Morning and afternoon classes are offered at all three locations.

English Language Studies

This is a 4-level certificate language skills program designed to prepare students for further studies at college or university.

Location: Doon Campus

Eligibility: Open. An in-house placement test OR a TOEFL or IELTS score determines your level.

Cost: Tuition and fees are approximately $1900 a semester.

English as a Second Language Part-time/ Continuing Education

English as a Second Language courses are designed to help you meet your communication goals. These courses are offered in the evening.

Location: Doon and Waterloo campuses

Eligibility: Open

Cost: Varies by course
