Orientation leaders share experiences

Orientation Leaders (or OLs as we call them) play a key role in providing a positive and memorable transition to the College. OLs work as a team to assist and support Conestoga College’s Orientation Program as enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers, who through their efforts, help ensure the best welcome possible for new students.

As an Orientation Leader you have the chance to develop strong leadership skills as well as strengthen communication and interpersonal skills. OLs have the opportunity to participate in a variety of team activities and practice public speaking skills.

The Roles and Responsibilities of an Orientation Leader include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in Orientation set-up and take-down
  • Enthusiastically welcoming and providing direction to students, families and friends as they arrive on Orientation day
  • Facilitation of a low-key welcome activity
  • Interacting with new students during lunch and engaging them in afternoon activities
  • Answering student questions and alleviating student anxieties
  • Creating a friendly, energetic atmosphere on campus
