Thriving organizations employ these practitioners to manage their most important resource: the people who make things happen. This fully online, part-time program is designed to provide professionals with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in the dynamic field of human resources. This comprehensive program is ideal for individuals seeking to enhance their understanding of HR principles, stay updated with industry trends, and advance their careers in HR management.

Courses in this program are based on the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) competency framework and meet the academic requirements for several HRPA professional designations.

This program is offered in full-time and part-time delivery.

Program information

All courses must be successfully completed within 5 years of acceptance into the program.

Course fees to complete this program total approximately *$7,800.00.

*This is the estimated amount for domestic students and may differ if students take equivalent courses. Fees are paid when registering for each individual course and are subject to change each term.

Admission requirements

  • Two - or three-year college diploma or university degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Applicants with 5+ years of experience in the Human Resources field with no post-secondary credential will be considered.

Note re: admission requirements

  • Applicants possessing degrees/diplomas from institutions where the language of instruction was not English will be required to provide test scores as evidence of their English language proficiency. Test scores, if required, would be a minimum of TOEFL iBT 88 (effective January 2024 with no individual skill less than 22; IELTS 6.5 with no bands less than 6.0; CAEL 70 with no sub-test band scores less than 60; PTE Academic 58; Conestoga English Language Test (CELT) Band 6; Cambridge Exams 180 with no individual score less than 170; or equivalent scores in other recognized standard tests of English.
  • We offer a language program for students whose English language skills are below the standard required for admission but who have met all other admission criteria. You will be eligible for admission to the degree program after completion of level 4 of the General Arts and Science - English Language Studies (ELS) program with an overall grade average of 80% and no grade less than 75%. Your placement in the ELS program is determined by scores on an in-house English language test or TOEFL or IELTS.

  • Applicants applying without a post-secondary diploma or degree must submit a resume documenting relevant work experience in the area of human resource management. Attach your resume to your application.
  • Final selection is made following a review of admission requirements.

Program requirements

  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and internet browser software in a Windows environment. For those candidates who lack this preparation, Conestoga College offers Continuing Education courses in these areas.
  • Students will require access to a computer equipped with internet access, Windows environment, including word processing, spreadsheet, and internet browser software. The majority of the program is delivered over the internet. The web-based program is supplemented by weekly classroom sessions delivered in the evening.
  • Final exams will be written in a proctored environment.

Graduate opportunities

Graduates are prepared for entry to mid-level management positions with human resource departments, community organizations, private practices, learning institutions, government departments and consulting firms.
