About the program

This program (MLCP) has been developed through a training partnership of three Ontario Community Colleges and the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME). Global competition, the development of advanced technologies and other economic challenges are rapidly changing the way Canadian business and industry operates. Supervisors have felt the impact of these changes most dramatically. Today's manufacturing supervisors must demonstrate multifaceted leadership combined with a high level of technical expertise. The Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program is exactly what you need if you are a supervisor, manager or have goals targeted in that direction.

Program information

All courses must be completed within 2 years of acceptance into the program.

Admission requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent or 19 years of age or older.

Note re: admission requirements

  • Students must be able to receive instruction, respond and research in the English language.

Admission procedures

  • Applicants must submit a Conestoga College program application before registering in courses.

Program outcomes

  • Perform supervisory duties, such as budgeting and cost control, customer relations, production and inventory control and productivity improvement;
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers, clients and co-workers;
  • Interpret workplace legislation effectively;
  • Negotiate effectively and resolve conflicts successfully;
  • Develop effective teams;
  • Employ problem solving techniques in workplace situations;
  • Meet quality standards and respond to the need for continuous improvement;
  • Apply computer fundamentals and use applicable software to meet manufacturing goals;
  • Plan and implement change in a department/organization;
  • Develop a personal plan for continuous learning; and
  • Demonstrate effective supervisory skills to industry work related situations.
