How To Work With Us

Research and Development (R&D) at Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning is market driven and focuses on finding solutions to the research needs of industry, business and service organizations. Our research builds on existing research programs and discoveries, and the “hands-on” experience of our faculty to provide immediate solutions to the clients we serve. Research at Conestoga may take the form of a literature review, the development of new and improved products and processes, the adoption of new technology to meet your needs, or perhaps discovering new uses for existing technology. Our work may involve developing new business models and practices, or it may contribute to public policy discussion. We are here to work with you and if we can't help you out, we'll be happy to point you in the direction of someone who can.

There are two ways in which Conestoga can support your research needs: 1) direct contracting for research services or, 2) using senior-year student research projects. Student research assistants are employed in all of our research projects as we believe the experience will enhance their educational experience. Conestoga's intellectual property policy states that Conestoga researchers own any intellectual property developed as a result of research. However, the policy also states that in contract research with an external organization, the company may own the intellectual property. We will work with you to develop contract terms appropriate to your research needs. If we still haven't convinced you that Conestoga is the right place for you to do your research, here are a few other good reasons:

  • our emphasis on fully applied solutions to meet your needs;
  • faculty and research technicians with advanced credentials and “hands-on” work experience;
  • state-of-the-art equipment and facilities;
  • advice and support for your research through our Applied Research office;
  • connections with complementary research organizations (e.g. universities, other colleges);
  • links to financial support for research;
  • advice on R&D tax credits.

Conestoga has 300 full-time faculty in five Schools available to support your research and training needs including faculty in the:

  • School of Business and Hospitality
  • School of Career and Academic Access
  • School of Engineering & Information Technology and Trades & Apprenticeship
  • School of Health Sciences, Community Services, and Biotechnology
