Office of Applied Research

The Office of Applied Research is responsible for all facets of research administration at the College. Our mission is to provide applied research services to business and industry, health and community services, and educational partners. The prime responsibility of the Office of Applied Research is to provide services to assist in furthering the research capability of the College. We assist in locating funding support for research (for both faculty and companies) and provide administrative and service support to research contracts and grants. The Office of Applied Research is responsible for keeping faculty informed of Conestoga's research policies, and ensuring these policies and procedures are followed. We also work to promote the research capabilities and interests of the College to external partners and funding sponsors. Our staff handles intellectual property issues that arise out of College research in a manner consistent with the public interest and the role and image of the College.

The Office of Applied Research provides research support to companies who are interested in becoming involved in research, or enhancing their existing research capacity. We bring the services of our technically-trained faculty, staff and students, our state-of-the-art equipment, and our knowledge of research funding programs to work for regional employers. The Office of Applied Research reports through the Research Board and the Vice-President (Applied Research) to the President. Day-to-day operations are managed by the Director, in consultation with the Vice-President (Applied Research). The Industry Liaison Officer works closely with companies to define the technical specifications of research projects and promote college research activities in the region. The Secretary provides day-to-day support for the office.
