Respect

The Student Life Department aims to foster a welcoming and inclusive community at Conestoga College where students feel like they belong. With this in mind, it is important for our campus community to promote respect as a vital part of our daily interactions.

In partnership with the volunteer student committee and academic programs, the Student Life Department leads Respect Week in February/March of each year.

The Student Life Department partners with a number of classes through CSL for Respect Week, including the English Language Studies program as part of their “Student Success for Higher Learning” Liberal Studies course.

In the past, students in the English Language Studies program have hosted interactive displays focusing on a variety of topics and highlighting the differences between students' own native culture to that of Canada. Topics have included body language, personal space, eye contact, individuals with disabilities, GLBTQ populations, and much more

By applying the students' course learning objectives to a practical, experiential exercise, Conestoga is able to celebrate the importance of respect on our campus and reinforce a respectful, welcoming and inclusive campus community in the process.
