If you have any questions or wish to speak with someone directly, please contact Ian Kearney, Event and Tour Coordinator at 519-748-5220 ext. 2383.
“I think our campus speaks for itself. There is a great sense of community, lots of activities and services for students and I think everyone needs to take the opportunity to come for a visit and experience it for themselves.”
Ian is the first face and voice many students and families see when planning a visit to Conestoga’s Doon campus and arriving for a tour. As the Event & Tour Coordinator, he is your contact for organizing a general campus tour or high school visit to the school. He also plays a large role in organizing events such as College Fair, Open House and Explore.
Raised in Cambridge, Ian now lives in Guelph. He attended Glenview Park Secondary School, and graduated from both College and University with a Business Administration - Marketing Diploma and Political Science Degree. From there he went on to work in the college system for three years, dealing with Marketing and Event Planning.
Joining Conestoga in 2011, he feels the position is a great fit for his skills, gives him lots of room to grow and offers flexibility and a great work/life balance. Ian loves being able to meet students and families and be able to speak with them and come away feeling like his helped make an impact with their post-secondary choices. What he often tells students is to not be afraid to change paths because not everyone’s path follows a straight line.
Ian says “Pursue the career you really want, but if you’re unsure, check out the College and talk to some of the many people we have on campus who can give you advice and show you that the transition to College life isn’t that difficult, for both students and parents.”

“I love helping people figure out what they want to do with their lives. You never know where life will take you and if you don’t like one direction, don’t be afraid to try something else and see where that path will lead you.”
After high school in Barrie, Ontario, Abby attended university for Business Communications. She then went on to take Automotive Marketing at Georgian College before beginning her career as an Events Coordinator working in the automotive industry. From there she worked as a Liaison Officer for Georgian.
Abby joined Conestoga in 2009 as a Trades and Apprenticeships Liaison specialist. She now travels between the Guelph, Waterloo and Doon campuses. What she loves the most about her job is the constant variety it offers. Working at three campuses gives her the chance to know a little bit about everything while meeting and working with many different people. Part of her job involves working with the Career Centre and Second Career program. Here she helps adults find a new direction in their lives by finding them the education they need to retrain for a new career path. Seeing some of these people in the hallways of Conestoga after joining a program is what she finds the most satisfying about this part of her job.
Abby also loves to travel in her spare time. After graduation from university she spent 5 months in Australia and 2 months in New Zealand. She’s also lived in Canmore, Alberta after college and hopes to continue traveling all around the world.
FYI. Conestoga has many articulation agreements with universities in Australia.
