Program details
Credential: 4-Year Bachelor of Early Learning Program Development (Honours)This four-year Bachelor degree program prepares students with the skills and applied understanding of enhanced education in early learning program development. While developing strong critical thinking and professional communication skills to work successfully in interprofessional teams, students experience authentic, situational learning opportunities that highlight the links between theory and practice in engaging and meaningful ways.
Program design, implementation and evaluation are considered within a framework of research informed practice, population focus, and social inclusion. Students are challenged to consider multiple theoretical perspectives as a lens to understand social policy and determine promising professional practices that shape social and educational programs.
Graduates are well-prepared for a number of progressive careers that support children, youth and families in the areas of curriculum implementation and co-ordination, program development and co-ordination, and social policy work.

Conestoga College facilitates recruitment on an ongoing basis - there are no hard deadlines. Typical time frames for work terms are listed below.
Postings are accepted beginning four months before the start of a term until all students have secured employment provided the minimum 12 consecutive weeks of full-time work is met.

Conestoga College collects data on hourly wages of co-operative education students and offers suggested ranges as a service to employers for the purpose of establishing fair and competitive compensation.
Our experience has been that employers increase wages as skills increase, particularly when employing students for more advanced work terms. The Co-operative Education Office can provide assistance to employers in establishing appropriate wage rates.

- Understand educational practices supportive of sustainability of healthy communities
- Design, implement and evaluate educational practices related to early learning programs and program development
- Analyze and critically examine research, evaluation methods, legislation, policy and practice and the implications for the early learning system
- Align educational practices and policies with current early learning research and legislation
- Translate evidence informed practice information for educators, parents, and public
- Engage educators in changing early learning practices
- Develop research proposals and conduct general social research with an awareness of research and interpersonal ethics
- Apply knowledge of and practice sensitivity to cultural diversity in working with children, families and community
- Practice principles of privacy, confidentiality, and security
- Interact professionally for the benefit of individuals, groups, communities and systems
- Prepare formal reports, correspondence and presentations
- Communicate professionally, credibly, and persuasively, in written and oral form, with clients, courts, and other audiences
- Develop project proposals
- Design and implement programs and services in a manner that allows for the evaluation of outcomes
