Description:

This course explores the intersections of reading, writing, and critical thinking with an emphasis on academic and workplace competencies for the 21st century. Through regular reading, writing, and discussion, students will develop the ability to analyze texts, construct well-supported arguments, and express their ideas effectively by learning to meet the expectations of selected audiences, purposes, and contexts. The course also provides a foundation for understanding the complexities of research, information literacy, and ethical communication in relation to various contemporary social and cultural issues.

Engineering Drawings & CAD Solid Modelling

Description:

This course equips students with the essential skills to read, create, and edit shop-related blueprints. Through hands-on practice, students will learn how to interpret multi-view mechanical drawings, transfer dimensioned information to physical measurements, and accurately lay out workpiece features. Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, they will also create solid component models and develop professional engineering drawings.

Applied Technical Mathematics
MATH1041

Description: This course will provide an understanding of terminology, basic concepts and applications of algebra, geometry and introductory trigonometry in solving technical problems pertaining to metal machining. The fundamentals of International System of Units (SI) will be discussed to assist students in developing a functional knowledge of the metric system. Students will perform occupational calculations in the Imperial and Metric systems to solve technical problems and will read and interpret data pertaining to metal machining.

Description: This course introduces the student to manual CNC programming. Students will be required to produce CNC turning/machining center programs then verify programs utilizing CNC simulation software and CNC machine tools.

Metrology and Coordinate Measuring Machines
