Program description - September 2025

The Business - Finance program is a two-year diploma that prepares students for entry-level careers in the financial services sector. Students will acquire a broad range of professional service and technical skills necessary for a variety of employment settings in all sectors of business and industry. This includes banks and other financial institutions, government offices, small businesses, and financial planning firms.

Graduates will have the skills to apply computer, communication and mathematical skills. They will also be prepared to employ financial planning and service techniques to support activities, including the maintenance, preparation and presentation of individuals' or organizations' financial documents and statements, and individuals' tax returns. In addition, graduates collaborate on several more complex functions, including financial analysis, planning and control

Note:

  • Relevant courses in this 2 year program have been approved by FP Canada. Upon graduation from the program, and taking additional FP Canada approved courses, graduate students are able to challenge the Qualified Associate Financial Planning Designation (QAFP).
  • Students have the option to challenge the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Life Licensing Qualifying Program (LLQP) industry examinations, which provide credentials that are highly sought after by employers. There could be additional fees associated with industry examinations.

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a needs-based program designed to help Ontario students cover the cost of post-secondary education. Funded by the federal and provincial governments, OSAP is intended to promote equality of opportunity for post-secondary studies through direct financial assistance for educational costs and living expenses.
