Program description - August 2027

Turn your interest in architecture, construction, design, and business into a dynamic career with Conestoga's Bachelor of Applied Technology (Honours) - Architecture - Project and Facility Management (APFM). This innovative four-year honours degree, with co-op opportunities, prepares students to lead and manage building projects from concept to completion.

Unlike traditional architecture or construction programs, APFM integrates architecture, design, engineering, project management, facility management, and business. You'll develop a comprehensive understanding of the built environment and learn how buildings are planned, designed, constructed, operated, and adapted over time while balancing the needs of owners, occupants and the environment.

Throughout the program, you'll explore the full building life cycle, from strategic planning and design to construction, occupancy, maintenance, and redevelopment. Through hands-on projects, collaborative learning, and co-op experiences, you'll develop the leadership, communication, and decision-making skills needed to manage complex building projects and work with a range of stakeholders.

Graduates are prepared for careers in architecture, construction, engineering, real estate, and facility management sectors, with the flexibility to pursue graduate studies in related fields.

What you'll learn

By the end of the program, you'll be able to:

  • Manage building projects throughout the entire building life cycle, from planning and design to occupancy and renewal

  • Coordinate project teams and stakeholders using effective leadership and communication skills
  • Analyze building performance, sustainability, and facility management strategies

Why choose this program?

  • Earn a four-year honours degree with up to 12 months of paid co-op experience
  • Study a unique combination of architecture, project management, facility management and business
  • Learn to manage projects from concept through construction and ongoing operations
  • Develop highly transferable leadership, communication and teamwork skills
  • Prepare for careers in the growing building, construction and infrastructure industries
