Program description - January 2025

This program is intended for individuals who have an interest in working in the health services field as the first point of contact for clients and patients. Graduates are expected to develop excellent customer services skills and will learn how to address front-line inquiries and document processes. The program provides a unique blend of experiences to prepare graduates to work in a variety of front-line health services settings such as dental, optical, physician, chiropractor environments, where a strong foundation in computer skills, communication abilities and knowledge of health care terminology is required. This strong foundation of medical office procedures, coupled with courses in effective communication strategies and the latest computer applications ensure that graduates are in-demand in a wide variety of healthcare settings.

Students who successfully complete this certificate may apply to the second year of the Health Office Administration diploma with advanced standing.

Note:

Students that successfully complete the Medical Office Practices (1308) certificate program are eligible to apply to level 3 of the Health Office Administration (1047) diploma program. Space in the Health Office Administration program is limited and transfer applicants are not guaranteed a seat in the program.
