Program description - September 2024

Conestoga's Public Relations diploma program is your first step towards an exciting career in communications. In this program, you will learn how to build relationships between organizations and their many stakeholders. This highly interactive diploma has you working with live clients, delving into case studies, and building your professional portfolio with relevant pieces as you progress. You will discover creative communication strategies to solve organizational problems and make the most of business opportunities with key publics.

You will develop and execute various writing styles used throughout the communications industry. Brand reputation, media relations, crisis and issues management, digital media, presentation skills, research, emerging technology, design, and public relations solutions are only some of the skills you will be adding to your resume.

Our professional advisory committee allows you to meet and connect with leaders in the industry. In your fourth term, you will step into the field for a five-week immersive placement opportunity and gain career experience before graduating. Graduates from this program will be well equipped to pursue social media management, public relations for non-profits, event coordinating, media relations, work within PR agencies or communication departments, and support entrepreneurial endeavours.

Financial assistance

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a needs-based program designed to help Ontario students cover the cost of post-secondary education. Funded by the federal and provincial governments, OSAP is intended to promote equality of opportunity for post-secondary studies through direct financial assistance for educational costs and living expenses.
