Academic delivery plan

Winter 2022 Academic Delivery Plan

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Conestoga has developed an academic delivery plan for 2021-22. The safety and well-being of our college community remains our highest priority. Our academic plans continue to be based on the advice of public health authorities.

Phased return to campus

Conestoga looks forward to welcoming more students back to in-person, on-campus learning as Ontario begins the process of gradually easing public health restrictions enacted early in January to reduce transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

Conestoga remains committed to returning to a full on-campus, in-person learning experience for all students during the winter 2022 term.

Starting the week of January 31, hybrid programs that were temporarily moved to remote delivery will begin to transition to on-campus and in-person learning experiences.

Programs and/or program levels that were scheduled for remote delivery for the term will continue to be delivered fully online for the rest of the winter term.

The Academic Delivery Plan page was updated on Tuesday, January 25, to include information about the college's phased return to campus plan. For programs that have hybrid delivery – in-person classes and some remote learning – the return to campus date is listed by school in the Winter 2022 Delivery Plan below.

  • For programs that have had some on-campus learning activity in January, the mode of delivery will remain as either hybrid or on-campus.
  • For programs that were scheduled as hybrid or on-campus and started the term as remote, a return to campus date is listed by the program delivery mode. For example, a hybrid program that will restart on-campus learning the week of March 7 is listed in the Winter 2022 Delivery Plan as Hybrid (March 7).

What to expect in the Winter 2022 term

Return to campus

Hybrid program delivery includes in-person classes and some remote learning. For most hybrid programs, the return to campus will begin the week of March 7. As a result of essential learning experiences that can only occur on campus, some hybrid programs will resume in-person and on-campus learning activities beginning the week or January 31 or February 7.

Academic program teams will communicate delivery plans with students directly. Beginning the week of March 7, we anticipate all students will follow timetables as provided on the student portal

Masks on campus

College-issued three-layer masks will continue to be a requirement for all students, employees and visitors accessing Conestoga campuses and sites. The college's mask use protocols reflects public health guidance and will be updated as new directives emerge.

Vaccination requirements

Conestoga students are required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or an approved exemption in accordance with Conestoga's COVID Community Safety Policy.

Please note:

  • College academic delivery plans may be modified as a result of COVID-related developments in the region or province.

Frequently Asked Questions

Program delivery

What are the delivery approaches for the winter 2022 term?
  • Hybrid: You will be required to attend in-person classes at your assigned campus. Most class hours will be delivered in-person, a few hours will be delivered remote/online.
  • On-campus: You will be required to attend in-person classes at your assigned campus. All class hours will be delivered in-person.
  • Remote: Remote programs will be delivered fully online. There will be no in-person classes.
    • Online asynchronous delivery: 100 per cent online delivery with independent course completion and no assigned day or time requirements. These hours will be indicated on the right-hand side of your student timetable.
    • Online synchronous delivery: 100 per cent online delivery with scheduled day and time course requirements. These hours will be indicated by a computer icon in the box in your student timetable.
Will I be studying in person, remotely or a hybrid? How do I find out?

Specific information regarding how and where your program will be delivered is available on the Student Portal under the My Courses tab where you will find if your program is fully in-person, fully online, or a mix of in-person and online courses. Programs are designed to provide you with the highest quality of learning. Your timetable will identify one of the different program delivery approaches:

If a program is hybrid, what does that mean?

A hybrid program is a combination of on-campus courses and remote courses. If you are in a hybrid program, you will be required to attend in-person classes at your assigned campus and these classes will not be recorded. Most class hours will be delivered in-person, a few hours will be delivered remote/online.

How often will I need to be on campus?

This will depend on your program. Your winter 2022 timetable will indicate if your program requires you to attend in-person/on-campus learning, including labs, shops or classes. Student timetables will be available on the Student Portal in mid-December.

What are the course hours for 2022?

Full-time courses at Conestoga are typically delivered Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.*
