Program description - May 2023

Completion of this accelerated two-term program will allow students to obtain an Ontario College Graduate Certificate in the field of financial planning. The program will provide students with all of the technical educational requirements leading to the Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ designation and Certified Financial Planner® designation, through FP Canada™, and optional licensing opportunities with industry regulators such as the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC), the Mutual Fund Dealer Association (MFDA) and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) for insurance licensing purposes. The progressive course of study combines courses designed at Conestoga with those originating from industry standard setting organizations to prepare students for employment opportunities in banking, insurance, private wealth, brokerage and/or independent practice.

Note:

  • Students have the option to challenge the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Life Licensing Qualifying Program (LLQP) industry examinations, which provide credentials that are highly sought after by employers. There are additional fees associated with both industry examinations.

Financial assistance

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is a needs-based program designed to help Ontario students cover the cost of post-secondary education. Funded by the federal and provincial governments, OSAP is intended to promote equality of opportunity for post-secondary studies through direct financial assistance for educational costs and living expenses. These interest-free loans are intended to supplement your financial resources and those of your family. The majority of students apply for loan assistance via the OSAP website. Students can also print the application booklet through the OSAP website. For more information, please visit OSAP & aid.
